DESCRIPTION: These courses are designed to be the equivalent of SPAN 3201 and SPAN 3202 as described in the UNC Charlotte Catalogue. Together they provide a complete review of Spanish grammar as well as oral and written practice.

OBJECTIVES:

  1. Students will be prepared to give formal oral presentations in an academic setting.
  2. Students will be prepared to write academic papers in Spanish for college-level classes.
  3. Students will be able to explain the grammatical concepts they use.
  4. Students will improve their level of oral fluency to at least an Advanced Low on the ACTFL speaking proficiency scale.

EVALUATION: Students will be evaluated on the following requirements:

  1. Class participation (attendance is mandatory—no more than 3 absences will be permitted. Students are responsible for making up any missed work) (20%).
  2. Homework exercises (20%)
  3. Written assignments and revisions (20%)
  4. Oral presentations (formal and informal) (20%)
  5. Final exam (20%)

Note:  Students who have completed SPAN 3201 and/or SPAN 3202 (or their equivalents) prior to the program will be given credit for SPAN 4050 Special Topics in Spanish, subject to additional work approved by the instructor.
